Philadelphia rapper and social justice advocate Meek Mill has had a very interesting few days on social media.
On Sunday, March 24, while expressing condolences to victims of the deadly tropical cyclone Idai which struck Mozambique leaving over 400 people dead, the Championships rapper questioned why American media never supports African tragedies.
His tweet sparked a whole debate with some users blaming African media for being silent on their own tragedies but rather paying too much attention to the West while others believed Americans “don’t care” about Africans.
On the back of that, Meek Mill shared his desire of doing a show in Africa in a Tweet on Monday– joining a long list of foreigners not being specific on which country or countries on the continent they have visited or are planning to visit and rather going for the collective, as if Africa is a country.
While others were excited about the news asking him to visit their respective countries (in Africa), others requested he be more specific:
In another incident which occurred last year, American socialite Kim Kardashian after visiting Uganda with her husband Kanye West, in a tweet, chose to claim she travelled from Africa but was rather very specific about the next place she was visiting – Indonesian island, Bali.
