Cape Verde and Israel have already agreed to strengthen cooperation in agriculture, in particular through technology transfer and training. The aim is to overcome the problem of drought, said the Prime Minister.
Ulisses Correia e Silva, who has been on a visit to Israel since Sunday, explains that the idea is to find technological solutions and innovation for an agriculture that develops in an environment of some aridity, similar to what exists in that country in the Middle East.
“We will have very strong cooperation in this area, in terms of technology transfer, field training, both for technicians and for farmers to be able to grasp the new production technologies. A strong focus on new methods of irrigation, to overcome this burning problem we have every year. When there is a lack of rain, there are problems in the rural dumb and we want to solve this problem definitively, creating bigger and better solutions for access to water for irrigation, “he says.
On Monday, the second day of the visit, the head of the Government and delegation met with representatives of several companies with experience in water resources management that dominate various technologies.
In a text posted on its Facebook social networking page, Ulisses Correia e Silva ensures that concrete and effective partnerships with Israeli companies that have developed advanced and economically advantageous solutions are achieved, diversifying the use of water, from desalination to wastewater reuse, to the drip irrigation.
Associated with rural development, the Government points to tourism of nature and adapted to the conditions of agricultural production as another priority area of cooperation.
Ulisses Correia e Silva, has been in Israel since Sunday. The visit, which ends Wednesday, focuses on cooperation in agriculture, security, technology and innovation, renewable energy, tourism and entrepreneurship.
