The state inspector general, Domingos Ngunza, denounced that from 2016 to 2017, Angola lost almost 800 billion kwanzas (26 billion dollars at the official exchange rate) in ghost works, local media reported.
Of that total, the damages included 60 million dollars and 15 million euros.
In his statements to journalists, he avoided referring to proven cases of money diversion in ministries and other public institutions.
He announced that they will soon have their own, modern headquarters with all the requirements to improve control.
Ngunza thanked President Joao Lourenzo for his support, and announced that seminars will be held to share knowledge on the main irregularities practiced by public managers.
